The Surrey Guild of Craftsmen is an organization of selected professional designer makers of contemporary and traditional applied arts from Surrey and adjoining counties, whose work is distinguished for both fine craftsmanship and innovative design.
The Guild aims to encourage its members and raise public awareness of the quality and diversity of the work created by local designer makers. This is done through developing a programme of quality exhibitions and craft events at venues around the county and beyond, where members can display and sell their work.
In addition, members of the Guild run a gallery at Milford, Surrey on a co-operative basis, where exhibitions are held and a wide variety of individual craftwork can be purchased. This offers the public a permanent opportunity to view examples of members’ work and talk directly to makers to gain further insight into the skills involved, or perhaps to commission a special piece.
New members of the Guild are always welcome, and joining procedures can be obtained by telephoning the gallery (01483 424769 between 1030am and 5pm daily) and requesting a current directory, which contains an application form.
